The 13th Pacific Zone Championship is over.  As we look back on it, we realize how much work was involved in the preparation and how many people contributed to its success.  The range officers offered their time and expertise are to be congratulated as they were frequently complimented on running one of the best, if not the best, officiated Zone Championship ever!  The target changers and scoring staff did an excellent job while the match director kept it all together.  As I said at the awards ceremony, “It takes a lot of pieces to make the whole”.

The Canadian Team did very well, winning 45% of the medals for which they were eligible and setting several new Pacific Zone records.  Special note should be made of Wally Krawec who won a gold medal in all of his events, Michael Martin who set a new record in Lorenzoni R, Richard Horne who set the standard for the Remington Match, our juniors, Sarah, Haley and Michael B. who shot exceptionally well.  Congratulations to our many medal winners and to those who shot personal bests in competition.

The next challenge for the Canadian Team is preparing to perform consistently at World level as they get ready for the MLAIC World Championship in Portugal, August 15 to 22, 2010.  Preparation will require dedication, good planning and consistent training.  Support is always available to implement and enhance the programs for dedicated competitors.

As always, anyone interested in trying international style muzzle loading may shoot the April and May matches with any type of muzzle loading firearm.  Payment of match fees and proof of insurance is all that is necessary.  If not, SFC insurance may be purchased on site.
